The EMTravellers are state of the art TIII spacecraft, used by Earth Mars Travel, the European ETE Office for Mars. They use one of the new compact fusion engines being developed these days. They have living space for 40 emigrants, 4 of them having taken a training to fly the craft in emergencies. Normally the ship is on autopilot. Because of the fast fusion engine the ship is much faster than the Ares I who carried 'The First'. Depending on which class you fly approximately 30, 60 or 90 days after departure from the Moon the ship docks at Ellis Station on Phobos, the largest Mars moon. There the emigrants have to wait for clearence and of course for their new passports, turning them into Martians. Some hours later they decent in a Mars Shuttle. They will land in Areopolis, still the only city of Mars. From Areopolis the emigrants spread all over Mars. The EMTravellers are being build by Lunar Space Technologies, a company working for ESA and established on the Moon, near Lunapolis. The fusion engine is provided by ISA's Institute of Technology [IIT]. When an EMTraveller reaches Mars it will not go back to Earth immediately. Transportation of people or cargo from Mars to for example the Asteroid Belt are a possibilty. Because of the new fusion engines, people are starting to move around the solarsystem. Ships like the EMTraveller now also make transports possible to far away places like the Jovian moons. Currently there are 20 EMTravellers in service. |
