This umbrella organization founded in 2030 regulates the international affairs concerning space travel. It has, for example a firm grip on the procedures taking place on Mars. It's future plans of space colonization can be read in the ISA Space Colonization Plan 2033-2133.

Achieving the largest and most important space related goals, that's the work of the ISA. All big projects, which in former days where a joint venture between multiple space agencies, like the manned missions to Mars, are since being carried out by the ISA. Therefore the ISA has it's own staff of scientists, progressively executing and investigating all the big steps of space colonization.

Once the path is cleared the smaller space organizations, with the help of the ISA, start the colonization effort. A good example was the sending of nanobots to the Asteroid Belt. This was an ISA project, an important step in space colonization. The NASA and ESA next separately sent their own ships with colonists, selected by their own selection procedures. Each party developed their own ships. The European TIII ship was a predecessor of the famous EMTraveller.

The ISA is a cooperation between Western countries, including the USA, Europe, Canada and Australia. South America, Central America and India are also affiliated. Other countries have formed their own alliances called Spaceblocs: the Asian, African and Arabic Spaceblocs. The ISA countries unofficially form the largest Spacebloc: the Western Spacebloc.
